About

Dedicated to fostering growth and understanding, our autism center for kids focusing on psychotherapy and play therapy offers an alternative to traditional ABA therapy. These approaches emphasize emotional expression, social skills development, and cognitive understanding in a more natural, engaging environment. Play therapy fosters creativity and self-regulation, while psychotherapy addresses underlying emotional and psychological needs.

We offer individual therapy, group activities, and parent workshops to foster growth and understanding

“The programs at the center have made a significant impact on my child’s development.I have had a fantastic experience with alternative ABA therapy and would highly recommend it. The team provided a supportive, individualized approach that focused on my child’s unique needs. Alternative ABA therapy offers a refreshing change from traditional methods, combining evidence-based practices with more holistic techniques. We’ve seen incredible progress, thanks to the personalized strategies that alternative ABA therapy provides. It’s clear that the therapists are deeply committed to making a difference using alternative ABA therapy methods. One of the standout aspects of this approach is its flexibility and emphasis on the whole child, not just behavior. My child responded very positively to alternative ABA therapy, and it’s been wonderful to witness their growth. If you’re looking for an approach that considers all aspects of development, I highly suggest giving alternative ABA therapy a try. It’s truly been life-changing for our family.”

FAQs

ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapy focuses on teaching new skills and behaviors to individuals with autism through reinforcement techniques. It aims to improve communication, social interactions, and adaptive behaviors while reducing challenging behaviors. ABA typically uses structured, one-on-one sessions with clear goals and measurable outcomes.
However, some argue that alternative methods like the Miller Method or play therapy may offer a more holistic and child-centered approach.
The Miller Method is designed to engage children by focusing on their natural development, using movement, play, and sensory experiences to help them process and make sense of their world. It emphasizes the child’s intrinsic motivation and provides a less rigid structure than ABA.
Play therapy, on the other hand, uses play as a medium for children to express emotions, develop social skills, and improve cognitive functions. It’s a more flexible, less directive approach that prioritizes emotional connection, creativity, and self-regulation in a supportive environment.
Both the Miller Method and play therapy offer more individualized and less intrusive interventions compared to ABA, focusing on the child’s emotional, social, and cognitive growth in a naturalistic way. These methods are increasingly recognized for their ability to help children develop at their own pace without overemphasizing behavior modification.

In ABA therapy, four primary types of behavior are:
Positive Behavior: Desired actions that are encouraged and reinforced.
Negative Behavior: Undesirable actions that are minimized or eliminated.
Reinforcement: Behaviors encouraged by positive outcomes or rewards.
Punishment: Behaviors reduced by introducing negative consequences.

ABA therapy uses various techniques, including:
Positive Reinforcement: Rewarding desired behaviors to encourage repetition.
Discrete Trial Training (DTT): Structured learning with clear instructions and rewards.
Natural Environment Teaching (NET): Teaching in natural settings for real-life application.
Task Analysis: Breaking down complex tasks into smaller steps.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can help children with autism by focusing on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. Unlike ABA, which primarily focuses on behavior modification, CBT helps children develop coping strategies, improve emotional regulation, and build problem-solving skills. It encourages self-awareness, resilience, and social skills through structured, flexible sessions. CBT empowers children by teaching them how to manage anxiety, frustration, and other emotions, fostering independence and confidence in navigating daily challenges. This approach is particularly beneficial for addressing internalizing issues like anxiety and depression, which ABA doesn’t typically target.
