Compassionate Team

Compassionate Team

We create a culture that is open, energetic, intensely supportive and grounded in a relentless commitment to quality therapy for our kids. As our field continues to move forward in teaching us about assent and compassionate care, we are at the forefront of this movement. As parents, you are your child’s biggest advocate, but we dream of a world in which each child learns skills to advocate for themselves. This is made possible by teaching replacement behaviors, honoring removal of assent, and approaching each child and parent with compassion and understanding.

Every Child
is an Individual

Each child learns in their own way and at their own pace. Every child is unique, not only with the ability to learn but also the potential to succeed.

Insurance Providers

At Autism Center for Kids, various services are offered to support children with autism, some of which may be covered by private insurance providers and the Ontario Autism Program (OAP). Here’s an overview of coverage details:

Services Potentially Covered by Insurance:

Many private insurance plans provide coverage for specific therapies used in autism treatment. Coverage depends on the insurer and plan specifics. Typically, services that may be covered include:

  • Speech Therapy: Speech and language therapy to help with communication difficulties in children with autism.
  • Occupational Therapy (OT): Services aimed at helping children improve daily living skills.
  • Psychotherapy/Counseling: Services such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), parent counseling, and anxiety therapy.
  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy: Some insurers may offer partial or full coverage for ABA, a well-known intervention for autism, though not all insurance plans cover it.

It’s essential to contact your insurance provider to determine specific coverage options.

Ontario Autism Program (OAP):

The Ontario Autism Program (OAP) provides funding for eligible families to access services for their children with autism. This program covers a wide range of evidence-based interventions, including:

  • ABA Therapy
  • Speech Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Parent Training Programs
  • Social Skills Programs

The funding is flexible, allowing families to choose service providers like the Autism Center for Kids for their child’s unique needs. It’s important to apply for the OAP and follow the guidelines to access the funding.

Note: While the OAP provides funding, OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan) does not cover most child therapy services.

For more information, it’s best to check with individual insurance providers or the Autism Center for Kids to discuss coverage options and how to access the services your child needs.
