Frequently Asked Questions
At Autism Center for Kids, we provide individualized, evidence-informed care for children, teens, and young adults. Our approach focuses on the whole child—supporting emotional, developmental, and communication growth through relationship-based, non-ABA methods. Below are some of the most common questions families ask when exploring our services.
What are the benefits of care at Autism Center for Kids?
Our care is personalized, compassionate, and focused on long-term development. We support emotional regulation, communication, social skills, and confidence—helping children succeed not just in sessions, but in everyday life. Families choose us for a more individualized and respectful alternative to rigid, one-size-fits-all approaches.
What conditions or challenges do you support?
We support a wide range of needs, including autism, ADHD, anxiety, emotional regulation challenges, social communication difficulties, and learning differences. We also work with children who may not have a formal diagnosis but are struggling in daily functioning.
Do you provide therapy or care?
We provide comprehensive care, which includes psychotherapy as well as developmental and family support. The term “care” reflects our holistic model—addressing the child, the family, and the environment together.
Do you use ABA therapy?
No. We offer a non-ABA, relationship-based approach that focuses on emotional connection, intrinsic motivation, and developmental growth. Our methods are play-based, flexible, and tailored to each child.
What makes your approach different?
We combine psychotherapy, play-based methods, and family-centered care into a personalized model. Our focus is on building real-life skills, emotional resilience, and meaningful relationships—not just managing behavior.
Choosing the right support for your child is an important decision. This section answers common questions about how to begin, what to expect, and how our services work across locations and formats.
What is the process to get started?
We begin with a consultation to understand your child’s needs and your goals as a family. From there, we create a personalized care plan that may include therapy, communication support, and parent guidance. The process is collaborative and flexible.
Do you offer speech and language services?
We offer communication development programs that support speech, language, and social communication through play-based and therapeutic approaches. When needed, we collaborate with registered speech-language pathologists for comprehensive care.
Do you work with parents and families?
Yes. Parent involvement is a key part of our approach. We provide coaching, strategies, and guidance to help you support your child at home and strengthen your relationship.
Are your services covered by insurance or funding programs?
Many services may be eligible for reimbursement through extended health benefits or programs like the Ontario Autism Program (OAP). Coverage depends on your provider, so we recommend checking your specific plan.
Do you offer in-person or online sessions?
We offer both in-person and virtual care. This allows us to support families locally and internationally while providing flexibility based on your needs. We serve families across Ontario (Vaughan, Markham, Barrie, Orillia), Alberta (Calgary), and internationally through virtual care, including the United States, South Korea, and Argentina (Buenos Aires).
